The deal, stated plainly

1. The service

Scout is a software service that collects public job postings, scores them against your stated preferences, drafts tailored application documents from the professional record you provide, and tracks your applications. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

2. Your account

Keep your sign-in to yourself and tell us if you believe it has been compromised. You must be at least 16 to use Scout. One person per account; Scout's whole design assumes it is working for one candidate at a time.

3. Your content

Your résumé, your work history, and the documents Scout drafts with you are yours. You grant Scout the permission to store and process them for exactly one purpose: operating the service for you. We claim no other rights, and we do not sell, rent, or resell your data or your documents to anyone.

4. Your responsibility for what you send

Scout drafts; you decide. Review every résumé, cover letter, and application answer before you send it. Scout works only from the record you give it and does not invent accomplishments, but the accuracy of what you submit to an employer is yours to stand behind.

5. Plans and credits

Free, Pro, and Max plans are described on the Pricing page. Monthly tailoring credits reset on the first of each month and do not roll over; extra credits you purchase carry until spent. Paid plans bill monthly and you can cancel any time; downgrading keeps your data and history and changes only your ceilings going forward.

6. Fair use

• Do not use Scout to misrepresent yourself, fabricate a record, or apply on someone else's behalf.
• Do not scrape, resell, or redistribute the job data or the service.
• Do not probe, overload, or interfere with the service's operation.

We may suspend accounts that break these rules, and we would rather write to you first.

7. What we promise, and what we cannot

We work to keep Scout fast, accurate, and available, and we fix what breaks. We cannot promise that any employer will respond, interview, or hire; scores are judgments to inform your decisions, not guarantees. Job postings come from third-party sources and can be wrong, stale, or withdrawn without notice. The service is provided as is, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid Scout in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Ending the relationship

You can delete your account at any time, which deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. If we ever wind the service down, active accounts get notice and a way to export their data first.

9. Changes

If these terms change materially, the date above changes and active accounts are told directly before the change applies.
